Forest School

Forest School

The philosophy of Forest Schools is to encourage and inspire individuals of any age through positive outdoor experiences.

Children visit the same local woodlands on a regular basis and through play they have the opportunity to learn about the natural environment, how to handle risks and most importantly to use their own initiative to solve problems and co-operate with others.

Foundation Stage Two children go to Forest School every other Wednesday for most of the year. A combination of parent drivers and a minibus picks the children up in the morning and drops them back at school just in time for lunch. School provide the children with waterproof clothing and wellingtons so we can get very messy.

The Hollies in Little Dalby

This is where we meet every other week for Forest School. There is a work area and a kitchen for the children to use.

The Woodland is a little walk away from the centre. We have to walk up a fairly steep hill which has got easier everytime!

There is a gate and fencing all the way around the the wooded area. The children meet and start and end each session at base camp. At the beginning of each session the children are reminded of how to keep safe in the woods.
