Autumn Term 2223

All Creatures Great and Small

Dear Parents and Carers

A very warm welcome to Curie Class!

I am very much looking forward to teaching my new year groups, and hope the children are as excited as I am.

Obviously, each year group will do things slightly differently to accommodate each level of learning. I felt it important to outline our weekly expectations to help with this transition.

The children will have two books, which match their current ability. The books will be changed when your child has read each book four times, please ensure that you comment and sign the reading diaries, so we can keep track of what is happening at home. When the phonics scheme starts, your child will also receive a book, which compliments the sounds they are learning.

Children to come in PE kit on a Monday and Wednesday

When spellings start, children will receive a list of spellings each Friday. They will then be tested the following Friday.

When homework starts, your child will receive their homework on a Friday, and it is to be handed in no later than the following Wednesday.

During the week, I will be teaching the children every morning, and will be their main teacher for Maths, English and Phonics. As outlined in the previous letter from Mrs Clarke, the children then go to spend their afternoons in Darwin class.

For now, this should cover any immediate concerns or worries, please ensure that in all instances you contact me as the main teacher for all Year 1 and 2 children via my email or contact the office to make an appointment.

Warm regards

Mrs O’Callaghan
